Food photography South Wales.
May many photographers these days tend to "specialise" in anything and everything that involves taking a photograph. That isn't really a specialism - more of a generalist approach to photography. Me? I'm a wedding photography specialist, as can clearly be seen on my website.
However, when asked, I will also turn my hand to a few select other things. Food is one of those.
I was asked by St. Pierre Marriott Hotel & Country Club to take some images of food prepared by Executive Chef Anthony Barnes in order to update their online menu. Exec Chef Anthony is an amazing artist to work with, proud of his work, conscious of detail and a good laugh to boot.
St. Pierre Marriott has several restaurants in which to shoot this food photography South Wales session; however, we choose the wood panelled Morgans restaurant. The room has an amazing warm feel to it, is cosy and the lighting is a total pain in the backside! Still, I enjoy a challenge!
I use a three light setup. A Godox AD360 with 7" reflector and 20' grid on a boom over the top of the table. Two Godox AD200's with grids and CTO gels were position opposite each other but aimed towards the plate of food. I used a Fuji XT2 + 16-55 f2.8 lens and a Godox X-Pro trigger.
This video gives a little more, if grainy and wobbly, detail!
