How many photographs will you actually take?.
Frequently Asked Questions Bristol Wedding Photographers
I will take approximately 1000 photographs during 12 hours. Could be a few more; could be a few less. I don’t tend to just keep the shutter pressed down and hope for the best. You will receive a minimum of 450 of your fully edited and retouched wedding photographs that tell the story your wedding day.
How long will you take photographs for?
Frequently Asked Questions Bristol Wedding Photographers
I don’t have time limits! We can sort out the exact timings when we meet to discuss your wedding in more detail. As you can imagine I have a lot of experience at weddings and would be more than happy to help you plan your perfect day and suggest various trusted suppliers I work with regularly.
What equipment do you use?
Frequently Asked Questions Bristol Wedding Photographers
I use professional Fuji cameras – Fuji XT4’s. They are equipped with battery grips giving me extra long shooting before needing to replace batteries.
Additionally, I have a variety of professional-level lenses and extensive lighting equipment to allow me to photograph your wedding regardless of the weather conditions (that is if you don’t mind the weather conditions!)
Do you work by yourself?
Frequently Asked Questions Bristol Wedding Photographers
Currently yes. I do coach and mentor around 50 other wedding photographers at various stages of their professional careers. I may bring one of those along with me. Any images they take, that are good enough, will be passed to you.
Are you insured?
Yes, professional and public liability insurance. Don’t book a supplier without insurance. Please ask if you wish confirmation of my insurance.
By the way – you should also get insurance for your wedding!
What do you mean by retouched?
An ‘edited’ photograph is one that has been colour corrected, exposure corrected and possibly cropped to a more pleasing angle.
A ‘retouched’ wedding photograph is one that has had some extra special treatment applied such as skin smoothing, eye whitening, sky adjustments etc. All of my wedding photographs are fully retouched.
Some get an extra special ‘sauce’ added to them so they stand out even more.
.
Do you remove tattoos?
Not for the online gallery. I will remove them (if they are VERY easy to remove) from the album photographs once you have finalised the album design and layout.
Yes, I understand the photographs are “yours” (although technically the copyright belongs to me and you get a licence to print them) in return the tattoos and piercings are also yours. I realise that may sound harsh/tough/snotty/stuck up etc. I factor into my wedding prices everything very carefully and that sadly doesn’t include the extra time to remove tattoos or piercings etc.
I will remove all the tattoos for an extra fee – I charge £65 per hour for Photoshop retouching which will be around 5 images depending on the editing required.
Will you Photoshop me ‘thinner’ / ‘fatter’ / ‘taller’ / ‘bigger’ etc etc
Nope. You are what you are. If you have just had a baby I would remove a few lbs here and there to put you back to your normal size and shape.
If you have a shaving rash I’ll do what I can. If you get cold sores or stress spots I’ll remove those.
I also won’t remove tattoos (see above) or edit out piercings unless by prior written consent or by payment to retouch the photographs.
In short, I won’t do digital cosmetic surgery.

What is your booking fee?
Frequently Asked Questions Bristol Wedding Photographers
My booking fee is £300 and is payable within 5 days of you saying you would like to book me. After that 5 day period, I reserve the right to offer the date to other interested couples.
I’ll send a reminder or two, and after that, I will quietly remove your wedding from my books. it is YOUR responsibility to pay the booking fee, not mine to chase you.
What does the booking fee cover?
Frequently Asked Questions Bristol Wedding Photographers
The booking fee covers all the admin involved in booking your wedding.
I like to meet face to face, so it covers the travel and time. It covers the admin for getting your contracts sorted out and sent to you; it covers the admin in sending your invoice out; it covers the admin in getting you set up on my IT system (calendar, spreadsheet etc) and finally, it covers a proportion of the usual utilities I have as a business such as lights, heating, electricity etc in the office space I use to do the above.
When do I have to pay the balance?
The balance of your wedding photography has to be paid within 4 weeks of your wedding date. I will send out an invoice around the 8-week point and remind you at the six-week point and then again at the four-week point.
Failure to pay the balance may result in me not turning up and may result in small claims action against you.
If you are having financial issues (and let’s face it – weddings are expensive) please let me know, I’ll be able to help.
What happens if I have trouble paying?
Frequently Asked Questions Bristol Wedding Photographers
Communicate. Communicate. Communicate.
We all have some time in our lives when the finances don’t work the way we want and planning/paying for weddings is one of those moments!
Just get in touch and we can work something out.
You really won’t turn up?
Frequently Asked Questions Bristol Wedding Photographers
Yes, I really won’t turn up.
I’m a full-time professional photographer.
This pays my mortgage. Puts food on my table. Buys me Jaffa Cakes.
I won’t work for free unless by a prior written arrangement.
Can I pay by instalments?
Yes – just drop me a note and I’ll send an invoice over to you for the amount you want to pay. (You may have to nag me to remind to send the invoice though!).
As long as you let me know in advance I’m good to help out with your cash flow. However until the FULL balance is paif you woin’t get the full size photos, just the sneaky peaks.
How do I pay?
Frequently Asked Questions Bristol Wedding Photographers
I accept Cheques, Cash (you WILL get a receipt), PayPal and Bank Transfer or credit/debit cards. I send electronic invoices out that are uniquely numbered for reference.
You can pay the invoice by clicking the link or arranging a bank transfer – my bank details are on the invoice.
If you want to hand over large amounts of cash let’s make a shoot out of it…
- Dark cars with headlights blazing
- Underground car park to meet in
- At night
- Your guys with cases full of cash & ‘guns’
- My guys with pads of receipts and pens.
- Everyone wears shades. Even though it’s night time.
- And hats.
What happens if I need to move the wedding date?
Frequently Asked Questions Bristol Wedding Photographers
These things happen for a variety of reasons, so don’t worry.
First off, if I’m free on the new date, then all is good – it’s a straight swap. Nothing extra to pay.
If I’m already booked on the new date (and you can check dates here) then I’d offer to find you another photographer (who may not be as bloody handsome or sarcastic!) but I’ll go out of my way to solve the issue. If I can’t find one then I’m afraid we would be looking at a de-facto cancellation, which means you may not receive your booking fee back. Any full balance would be refunded, minus the booking fee though
Do I get a discount if I'm a social media influencer?
To get any kind of discount from me, you only need to buy me a box of McVitities Jaffa Cakes.
Being a social media influencer is only valuable for me if I can use your wedding photographs for my own social media, AND you specifically mention how bloody amazing I am on a selfie video. Oh, and a social media influencer following with at least 500,000 followers.
If you happen to be Emma Thompson though the wedding photography is free; but I still want Jaffa Cakes.
Get in Touch...you know you want to ;-)
If, for some strange reason unknown to only the internet Gods and Godessess the form fails to send me a message or you get an error...DON'T PANIC.
If you want to contact Andrew Miller just send him an FB message or use the WhatsApp messaging thingy. The web is a funny old thing at times...
Andrew Miller
Weak tea-drinking, crap joke-telling, Jaffa Cake eating, Bon Jovi loving, incredibly handsome wedding photographer (probably).
As a tea-sipping, pun-cracking, Jaffa Cake munching, Bon Jovi enthusiast, and strikingly good-looking wedding photographer (most likely), I am more than just a Bristol-based wedding photographer.
Wedding photographers in Bristol, like myself, often go beyond just capturing images.
I meticulously plan, organise, and create lasting wedding memories for weddings in Bristol and Somerset. My camera bags carry more non-photography related items than most would carry in a purse... Hairspray. Brush. Hair Grips. Jaffa Cakes. Deodorant. Blister kit. Plasters. Paracetamol. Crochet hook. Unicorns. Eyelash glue. Sewing kit. Heel Protectors. Scissors. Nail file. Bust tape. Umbrellas. Emergency hygiene kit.
Why do I do this? Because the last thing you need on your wedding day is to stress over the small stuff. Let me handle those details while you focus on celebrating the day with your loved ones.
And did I mention my fondness for Jaffa Cakes? I usually have a box or two on hand, just in case! ;-)
Red Flags When We Meet
NO Jaffa Cakes. You bring me a box (or more if you fancy) of Jaffa Cakes when we meet and I’ll give you a 10% discount. No Jaffa Cakes, no discount. This is firm rule (not a guideline by the way).
I don’t share my Jaffa Cakes. Don’t make me fight you to prove it. I have no scruples when dealing with Jaffa Cakes.
NO Bon Jovi. Optional, but bonus points if you like Bon Jovi!
NO Weak De-Caf Tea. Optional...but you'll get hundreds of points if you can make me a cuppa that is perfect. Decaf tea, no milk, no sugar and weak enough to see the bottom of the mug easily.
TL;DR
No pretentious crap. Just solid hard work and amazing wedding photography. Just buy me Jaffa Cakes.
