Cromwell’s Hideaway – A perfect getaway from it all.

This is a historic location in the UK and one of the best-kept secrets in Wales & Monmouthshire.

Situated just a cannon’s boom from Raglan Castle, Cromwell’s Hideaway this secluded Shepherd’s Hut surrounded by farmland, it combining heritage with luxury. You can expect a secluded romantic hideaway location, with ensuite facilities, country kitchen, full-size double bed, underfloor heating and a log burner to keep you warm on those chilly winter nights. Perfect for outdoor eating and stargazing at night.

Why the name – Cromwell’s Hideaway?

Raglan Castle was originally held for the Crown & King Charles I by Henry Somerset, the 5th Earl of that name.  Raglan Castle is an important crossroads into Wales and needed to be taken by the Round Heads.  The siege started and finished in 1646, towards the end of the Civil War and was eventually taken by Sir Thomas Fairfax of the New Model Army – the same army that Cromwell had set up which subsequently became the standard for the British Army as we know it today.

Raglan Castle was of such strategic importance it is unlikely that Cromwell would not have visited, and legend has it he actually stayed in the barn adjacent to the hideaway.
