How to use Facebook to find wedding suppliers

How to use Facebook to find wedding suppliers -

"Hi! I'm getting married and I'm looking for an XXXX. Some are really cheap and some are really expensive. I'm looking for a reasonable price one. I live in xxx and I'm on a tight budget. Who can help?"

This is a typical post by b2b. It's NO use at all to suppliers other than to post a link and waste (in my opinion) our time.

If you are a bride/groom looking for a particular supplier then please think about what you are posting. This WILL save you time trawling through, it WILL save suppliers time from not bothering to post and WILL make it easier for you to get a list of suppliers who CAN help you.

  • Put in a price range. "Photographers from £500 - £1000; this must be listed on your website."  Leave out the crap about "cheap" / "expensive"; that's all subjective anyway.  Why the "must be listed on your website" bit?  Because you know they have a website (good business practice; check this blog out on Check wedding suppliers for more info.)
  • Put in some kind of information you are looking for "Documentary photographers" / "Fine Art Photographers" / "Cake makers who can do Mexican Paste" / "MUA who use products that won't give me flashback" etc.  Help the suppliers to help you.
  • Add in a date for your wedding.  If you don't have a date TELL US!!!!!
  • Include details if you would be willing to pay travel AND accommodation if required.  If not STATE you want suppliers "within xxx miles of xxx location."
  • If you want a PM to ask for one.  If you DON'T want a PM to tell people... and if they ignore you report them to admin and/or block them.  (Personally, this annoys the hell out of me.)

Closing the post...

If you find a supplier/s you like and want to close the Facebook post close it by editing the post to include AT THE TOP "***** POST CLOSED ***** or just delete the post. Otherwise, you will find that supplier with nothing better to do than sit and browse Facebook will continually comment.

Don't just "turn off notifications" - that's rude.

Also, take the time to reply to each and every post or PM.  It's polite.

How to use Facebook to find wedding suppliers "Budget Weddings"

Every wedding I've ever photographed has been on a budget. Some of those budgets have been very large; others have been very small. Being on a budget is part and parcel of planning a wedding; an event; a birthday party; a holiday or even a trip to the moon.

The phrase "I'm on a tight budget" or even "I'm on a budget" is stating the obvious. Be specific; "I want this whole wedding to cost less than £5k for instance". That gives me as a supplier a better chance of knowing if I would be able to help you out, and at the lowest collection of £1275 for low season weddings, I'm probably out of your price range (notice I didn't say budget!!!).  And that's fine.  It's not being arrogant by me; it's saving me and your time!

But please remember that it's easy to search your other posts on any Facebook group and when I see other posts from you with things like "I've got chocolate fountains, ice sculpture, candy cart, 10 bridesmaids, 10 ushers, 2 best men, a five-star hotel, horse and carriage AND vintage cars, a helicopter ride for after the service, personalised footwear etc etc" and you post you are on a tight budget for something - you're lying.

You're not on a tight budget; you spent your budget on other things and now you want ME or other suppliers to reduce our prices to help you out.

You're just expecting the supplier you are looking for to subsidise your previous choices.

Not gonna happen in my case. #justsaying #noapologyforbeingblunt

The bottom line on How to use Facebook to find wedding suppliers

Unless you want to get spammed on your post ridiculously; unless you want to get PM after PM learn how to use Facebook to find wedding suppliers and follow some simple rules in the top section!

It's NOT an exhaustive list though - you can be as specific as you want - that helps!
