Fresh out of the printers, and I'm just waiting to get more info... State of the Wedding Industry Report 2019

  1. Average cost of a wedding in the UK was £31,974. Obviously pushed up by very large opulent weddings in (probably) the Home Counties. 50% of couples have help paying for this from family.
  2. Venue hire is 28% of costs
  3. The Maldives seems to be the most popular destination for honeymoons. (What's wrong with Whitby??!!))
  4. 44% announce their engagement on social media with 24hrs!
  5. 20 months is the average length of a couples engagement
  6. Women are, on average, 32 years old and mean 34 years old when they get married
  7. 8% spend more than 3 years planning (good on them - you can never have too much time ti plan and save!!)
  8. Guests spend an average of £54 on a gift
  9. 545 of couples are asking for money to help with other things
  10. Average wedding size is 82 day guests and 103 evening guests
  11. 25% of couples apparently spent MORE to make their wedding look good for Instagram. Personally I think that is bloody sad.
  12. 30% said BREXIT put them off getting married abroad (yeah!!! more for me!!!)
  13. 33% thought BREXIT had made the wedding more expensive.
  14. Finally it seems that dating apps and online apps are not accounting for the majority of "get togethers" - 68% of couples met in real life.

More when I get the final result!!!
