Family Portrait Photography - Sometimes as a photographer you get some very very VERY strange requests.  Most of the time these requests turn out to be nothing more than spam or wind-ups from people.  However, you have to respond to every email that looks legit as you never know when it really is.  I had one such email a few months ago that went like this: "For my mum’s 50th Birthday I would like to give her a framed photo/canvas of me and my brother. I have some ideas of what I would like as I don’t want the usual studio shoot. I want it to portray me and my brother's relationship growing up and how we are now as adults. Something where I'm pouring chocolate mixture over his head or he’s trying to run me over with his car, basically things that show us winding each other up or arguing etc. For now, I would just like to get a quote and an idea of the style you have as a photographer." So after a few emails back and forth, a meeting or two we finalised things and got to work!  I did around 3 sessions with Laura & Dave and spent many hours editing and retouching the set photographs we eventually ended up with.  I had great fun doing it - it is after all outside of my usual speciality of wedding photography.  However, this family portrait photographer  and Laura & Dave rose to the challenge! The editing was totally different that that which I would normally do, and that in itself was a great thing - it always helps to push the boundaries somewhat, and you never know - a future wedding client may just want to have something similar! Cardiff Portrait Photographer - although these sessions were done close to home (Chepstow), I do travel far and wide and would be happy to travel further if the right commission was made available.  I'm open to requests and if I think that your idea would be fun and add value to my portfolio I'm more than happy to think about doing it at a reduced cost. Get in touch - you never know!
