Christening Photography Newport

Christening Photography Newport - I love photographing inside churches; wether it's for weddings or christenings or even funerals (yes - I've photographed a few of those also). This gorgeous little girl; Baby Daisy; was Christened in St. Mary's Church, Stow on the Hill, Newport a few weeks ago.  As a Roman Catholic myself it's nice to be involved, even as a photographer, in something like this.   What was even nicer was that this lovely family have been fiends and clients for a long time and know just how to pya me - Jaffa Cakes and a bottle of wine plus the usual fee!

What happens during a Roman Catholic Christening?

The parents and those chosen as Godparents will need to make three announcements:
  • That they turn to Christ
  • That they repent of their sins
  • That they renounce all forms of evil
They are then asked these three questions:
  • Do you accept and confide in God the Father who made Paradise and Earth?
  • Do you accept and confide in his Child Jesus Christ who reclaimed humankind?
  • Do you accept and confide in his Heavenly Soul who offers life to the general population of God?
The child has water poured over his/her head – and the priest will say 'I sanctify through water you for the sake of the Father, Child and Blessed Soul' A candle is given for the parents and Godparents to light; a flame to speak to Jesus as the light of the world.

Who can be a Godparent?

Godparents must  should be 16 years old or more than, a Roman Catholic who has both received Holy Communion and also has been confirmed.
