Pricing Wedding Photography - This is a tough blog to write.  It's not about pricing in real numbers.  It's about WHY I charge what I do.  It's a tough thing to price your work.  I'd love to do it for free (no, seriously I would.  I never would even if I could afford to - it's not fair on other photographers.).

"I love your work but you're too expensive. Can you discount?" - this is something I get a lot.  And yes, I can discount but we have some caveats going on: 1 - If you're having a mid-week wedding, I can discount because you get a reduced wedding photography collection.  Less work for me, so yes you can have a discount. 2 - If you're getting married a wedding venue I've never been to before.  Again, if it looks a great venue to photograph at then I'm open to SENSIBLE conversations about pricing. Notice the word sensible.  I realise you may be on a budget (we all are) but I still have bills to pay! 3 - If you're getting married in a TOTALLY AMAZING WEDDING OUTFIT.  Then yes, again I am open to SENSIBLE chats about it  Why?  The photographs will look amazing and I can use them for my portfolio. 4 - If you really value my work.  And by that I mean really value it, not just give me the one liners "I love your work" kinda thing.  I can tell, heck - ALL photographers can tell if someone really truly loves what we do or is just saying that to get a freebie.

Instead of discounts by the way I am more likely to offer an upgrade of your wedding album, num,ber of hours I attend your wedding, complimentary parent books etc.  It's all about negotiation.  And negotiation is knowing the price of everything AND the value of everything. ;-)
