Drone Wedding Photography - There is a new and growing paradigm in the wedding photography industry, that is Drone Wedding Photography. Look for a Bristol wedding photographer and you’re likely to find this new option as an add-on to their standard packages.

SPOILER ALERT - I don't personally offer drone photography.  It is a specialised skill set, costs a fortune for good professional drones and another fortune to get the required FAA licences to fly a drone, plus small fortune to get insured adequately.

So...what is it? How much is it? And is it worth it?

The Pros - Drone Photography

Drone wedding photography offers a unique perspective of your big day and is certain to be a memorable part of any wedding ceremony. A showcase of your wedding is created that illustrates every facet of the occasion and keeps the viewer interested from start to finish.

The Cons - Drone Wedding Photography

• Drones can, on occasion, be a bit noisy and a bit disruptive, taking the focus away from the bride and groom. The only way to avoid this is to ground the drones during important parts of the day, which is just when you want your photographs taken.
• It’s a bit pricey. Your drone add-on can range anywhere from £500-600, so make sure you have the budget for it.
• Not every location is drone friendly. It is not permitted to fly a drone just anywhere. Any overhead obstructions such as wires or trees are going to prevent this service from being provided. There are even some locations that require permits, which is what makes it an expensive add-on.
• It can take a little time to set up, so make sure you allow enough time for it. The photographic process itself can also take a while from start to finish.
• Bad weather will prevent the flight of the drone. A bit of a problem if you live in the UK and one that will leave you checking weather forecasts more than you normally would in the lead up to your wedding day.

In Conclusion

So, getting wedding drone photography for your wedding is costly, hard to set up, prone to being cancelled and can take a lot of attention away from the wedding itself.  However, the results can be more than worth the hassle and the cost if you are looking for a memorable wedding memento. The end product is one that you’ll end up watching again and again.

Just don’t be too disappointed if it gets called off due to British weather conditions.
