The Speech House Hotel – Nikki & Rob were married 3rd July 2016 in the Forest of Dean. An amazing day that had as much to do with the weather as it had with the wedding!
First port of call was the bridal prep in Lydney and that went superbly. Everything on time and no real stressed out brides. One thing you shouldn’t do is eat brioche in front of your wedding photographer – ‘cos that just makes it sooo hard not to capture a photograph. (Sorry Sam!!).
This great couple were married in their local church in Lydney – St. Mary’s. The vicar Sarah was amazing as usual and was more than helpful in allowing me to quietly move between parts of the church to photograph the wedding couple.
The Speech House Hotel
The Speech House Hotel was where the wedding reception was taking place.
The Speech House Hotel, is a former 17th-century hunting lodge set in the heart of the idyllic Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.
Overlooking the romantic wilderness of the surrounding Forest of Dean, The Speech House Hotel offers comfortably appointed bedrooms, several with four-poster beds. This Forest of Dean hotel has 37 bedrooms which offer modern facilities whilst retaining their original charm.
On the drive to the Speech House Hotel we stopped off at Cannop Ponds and that was when we had a taste of the weather to come. Good job this Forest of Dean wedding photographer brings umbrellas! To be totally fair to Nikki & Rob neither was fazed by the rain and we still managed to get some great shots before driving back to the Speech House Hotel.
Family group photographs were done inside this amazing venue. We used the Verderers Restaurant and with a little help from Denise the wedding & event coordinator moved around the table’s chairs and place settings.
A break in the weather and we all got into my car to drive the short distance back to Cannop Ponds in the late afternoon for more wedding photographs – where I promptly ruined a pair of shoes by sliding into the dank fetid water. Thanks to Nikki & Rob who laughed their heads off – still managed to get a great photograph of them. though!!
